Three point lighting

Light is fundamental to film because it creates a visual mood, atmosphere and sense of meaning for the audience.

The three point lightings are

KEY LIGHT-
The keylight is the main light, the brightest e.g. outside the key light is the sun.

FILL LIGHT
fills in shadows that the key light has created, fill light is usually the opposite side to the key light

BACK LIGHT
Usually placed higher than the subject. It gives the subject more shape and depth also allows you to seperate the subject from the background




If placed opposite (axis) to the keylight its known as a kicker
